Seeing the inequitable gaps in education and finding ways to begin closing them requires a holistic approach. Educators and administrators must look beyond the student and treat the whole person -- and, by extension, the whole system. It also means addressing challenges, be they small or systemic. It requires analyzing the gaps and finding ways to begin closing them.
The stories in this collection show how students, teachers, administrators, school districts, and college campuses are reimagining education in the 21st century and leveling the playing field — all while navigating a pandemic. That may be by extending inclusivity and diversifying curricula to recognize historically marginalized communities, addressing food security, widening the breadth of access and opportunities for students with disabilities, and providing access to the necessary technology that will help students succeed.
