Ahead of a ballot measure to guarantee access to abortion and reproductive health care in Ohio, the Black-led Ohio Women’s Alliance spoke with more than 1.3 million young female BIPOC voters, framing the campaign as a fight for a wide range of reproductive services. Residents approved the constitutional amendment with 60 percent of female voters and 83 percent of Black voters voting in favor.

Amid the pandemic, medical researchers and an abortion-rights advocacy group in the U.S. are working to make the abortion pill available via mail. Although there is ambiguity surrounding the rules and regulations of how the pill must be distributed to patients, some doctors have helped efforts by agreeing to register with F.D.A.-approved manufacturers and a handful of states are allowing the pill to be mailed after an in-person ultrasound has been conducted.

As abortion laws become increasingly restrictive across the southern US, more and more grassroots organizations are working to ensure access to abortions is still available. There exists a network called National Network of Abortion Funds that financially supports access to abortions via dozens of funds across the country. Services offered to women include financial assistance for the procedure as well as transportation and childcare, assigned mentors who are readily available at all times, and assistance for women who are pregnant or mothering.

Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU) Clinic is taking a youth centered approach towards teaching reproductive health. Their methods, which include having youth days, hiring youth peer counselors, and providing private rooms for youth to discuss their sexual health, allow them to reach teenagers. “As a result, their uptake of contraception has increased.”

Cultural stigmas, a lack of information, and shortages of qualified providers mean that - despite being a legal process - millions of women in India still suffer and die from botched and back-ally abortions each year. The Ipas Development Foundation is working to change perceptions and save lives by providing training and certifications to healthcare workers, passing out free contraception, helping break social taboos, and distributing informational resources communicating women's rights to reproductive healthcare.

A Buffalo, New York clinic provides a space for both abortions and natural births. In looking at the experiences as a continuum, rather than as juxtaposing sides, the hope is to change how people think about the birth experiences.

The Population and Community Development Association was established in 1974 to promote family planning and has since partnered with the local government and other groups to provide family planning services, and resources, like condoms and birth control, as well as education. Widespread promotion and availability of contraceptives thanks to the group has led the uptake among women of reproductive age to go from about 17% in 1970 to 75% in 2022 — as well as a reduction in fertility rates, all of which helps to control the overall population.

An organization founded in Oakland, CA is bringing non-partisan abortion counseling to those who feel isolated by platforms that are designated as either pro-life or pro-choice. The goal of the organization, which is staffed with trained volunteers from across the country, is to help "people process their experiences around abortion without any preconceived notions about what that should look like."
