How tech aids fight against TB in Rwanda

Rwanda has deployed 81 GeneXpert machines across its hospitals and high-risk health centers to dramatically speed up tuberculosis diagnosis, reducing test turnaround time from up to five weeks to under two hours. The rapid molecular testing technology has contributed to a significant drop in TB mortality, from 9.2 deaths per 100,000 people in 2021 to 4.3 deaths per 100,000 in 2023.
