Crossing Borders Music is a group of classically-trained Western musicians who perform music from Haitian, Palestinian, Rohingya, Native American and other marginalized communities via free concerts held in libraries, cultural centers and university spaces. The goal is to not only showcase diverse cultures and musical traditions, but to build a deeper understanding of immigrants and other communities that are often overlooked. The group reaches about 10,000 people in-person and online each year, and hosted 27 free concerts in 2024.

Project 1975: A Vietnamese Diaspora Commemoration Initiative is a public art installation to memorialize the Vietnamese who fought alongside U.S. soldiers in the Vietnam War, as this group is often forgotten. The memorial tells stories from the perspective of the Vietnamese, highlighting the impact of war on families and communities.

A team of Western art conservationists trained a community in Tibet how to restore historic monasteries that were crumbling due to the effects of climate change. Over decades of restoration work, the team sparked a cultural renaissance in the region and is providing economic opportunities for women.

Cree youth in Calgary, Alberta, are expressing their views and experiences by writing, recording, and performing original music. The program, called Nikamo, is part of a collaboration between a local theater and a nonprofit focused on supporting youth mental health.

To help preserve important cultural knowledge in the face of genocide, Rohingya Project digitized and designed a font for the Hanifi Rohingya alphabet, which was developed in the 1980s. The script has now been released as a Unicode and is taught to displaced Rohingya around the world in refugee camps, classrooms, Zoom meetings, and WhatsApp groups.

The U.S. Board of Geographic Names and the Oregon Geographic Names Board are changing offensive and racist geographic place names in the state. When looking to change a name, the boards reach out to community members and experts for recommendations. They also review new name proposals that locals submit for both unnamed and named locations.
