One of the many factors that results in the collapse of civilizations is environmental degradation, which is damage to the planet caused by humans. The rate and severity of environmental degradation is varied and specific to a geographical location. Some civilizations collapse due their own demise in this phenomenon, while others either adapt, migrate, or search for solutions. I argue that a civilization that adapts is only delaying their demise and a migrating civilization is at risk for inability to adapt to a new environment and repeating their environmental mistakes. In this collection, I will show examples of how civilizations are searching for solutions to recover from environmental degradation. Thus, increasing chances of survival.
