What is Germany doing better to save lives from COVID-19?

Solutions Journalism Network

In the last few years, the news in Europe said, "Germany does this better, and that... " and for many of us here, it started to get irritating. In the case of the coronavirus, it is serious, and Germany is also doing it better. It's a matter of how many lives we can save, and what measures work in the fight against COVID-19.

Like other European countries, Germany is hit hard by the pandemic. But despite a high contamination rate, the death rate from COVID-19 in the country is particularly low. This collection investigates how a combination of widespread testing, social distancing, and plenty of hospital care available (so much that the country is welcoming patients from France and Italy) , has allowed Germany to be a model for others in fighting the virus.

In this crisis, like in many others, we should look at what's working elsewhere, like Germany, and analyze : why is this working better? And can we replicate this approach in our country?
