This collection focuses on how the issue of food waste is addressed globally, from Korea to Europe and to the USA; from for-profit businesses to non-profit organizations. Effort is being made everywhere by many great people, and has resulted in positive outcomes.
The two major themes from the stories are creative ways to avoid food waste in the beginning and how to prevent food waste from entering landfill. During the research, I found many great initiatives to turn food waste into something useful rather than dumping them into landfills, and I think this should be expanded.
One major problem with food waste is that some people actually want to encourage that, as it will promote consumerism and therefore profiting a lot of companies. This situation creates a vicious circle since if people stopped buying the same amount of food, the economy would not progress as much as it could.
