The Community Release With Support program provides wraparound services to people on pretrial release by connecting them with housing support, employment services, and education programs, as well as helping participants make their court dates. These services have become even more vital since Illinois passed the Pretrial Fairness Act to eliminate cash bail requirements. Roughly 3,000 people have participated in the support program, which has connected 1,000 people with employment services, more than 740 with education programs, and more than 250 with housing support.

In 2017, a Pennsylvania county court system began to expand its offerings of free legal support, and now in 2023 the county provides defendants with public defenders at all arraignments 9am to midnight. In the first two years of its more-limited services, a study proved defendants with lawyers were more likely to be released without cash bail. Also, chances that a defendant would be in jail three days after their hearing dropped. Research also showed, however, increases in some costs and one type of crime.

24/7 Sobriety program developed in South Dakota could be rolled out nationwide

The 24/7 Sobriety program requires repeat offenders of alcohol-related crimes to submit to breathalyzer tests twice a day as a condition of a pre-trial bond or sentencing agreement. Failure to remain sober results in jail time. Since 24/7 Sobriety started in 2005, there have been more than 39,000 participants and nearly 12.5 million tests administered, with a pass rate of 98.8%. Studies have also found a reduction in DUI and domestic violence arrests in states that adopt the program.
